Are you sick of hearing about Rhinebeck yet? How awesome it was and how everyone always wishes they could have brought another $100?
Well Rhinebeck WAS awesome. And I wish I could have brought another $100 :) My yarn purchases were actually pretty modest, a skein of Malabrigo Rasta that's already knitted into a teacher gift! Who's better than me? Honestly, I was so excited for the yarn and the pattern (a simple cabled hat) that I just couldn't wait.
It's just gorgeous yarn. How can you not want to knit with it? It's like buttah I tell you, buttah. Soft, luscious buttah. Even my five year old who is very sensitive says "it's not pokey, it's soft" when I made him rub it on his neck. If that's not a stellar testimonial I don't know what it is.
Next I got Holiday Yarns Flock Sock in Bubblegum. This booth was a riot of color, tons and tons of yarns, many of them self striping. I am a total sucker for pink and I really want some pink socks. These will be the next pair of socks I knit!
And finally, the yarn I wished I bought last year and looked forward to all year long...
Four Play by Brooks Farm Yarn.
My friend Heather got this last year and knit a really great scarf called the Marching Columns scarf, and she used just one skein. This yarn really grows once it's blocked and her scarf is so soft and pretty, I've wanted one all year long. The pattern isn't available online just now but I'll see if I can get it posted once I knit the scarf.
Tomorrow starts Nanoblopomo (I think I have too many letters, whatevs). I'm going to fortify myself with the kid's Halloween candy for the challenge ahead!
